I come here with an inquiry, for insight and understanding. This is probably out of the ordinary. I traveled to Bali and Java about 8 years ago. While on Bali I learned about Hinduism and felt a strong connection to Ganesha. I had a vision then of a tattoo I would like to someday put on my back. Recently I started taking that vision from my brain into a form I can look at and show to others. My question has to do with how it would be seen by followers of the Hindu religion. To be honest I will one day eventually put the image on my skin, but I guess I am searching for grace. It is very heavy anyway. I can carry the weight, but srace would make it feel....different. I see that I can share an image here but I am not sure I want to put the image out there yet
When my wife and I were at Borobudur we were swamped with people wanting to take pictures with us as foreigners. I also saw people capturing the sacred and not witnessing it. The kids were off from school so a ton of people were there.
My vision is Ganesha on the top of a pyramid made of books with a spiral glyph. The pyramid is surrounded by zombie-like figures recording Ganesha on the pyramid with their cell phones. There is one hooded figure without a phone witnessing and weeping.
I am not religious. I connect with things that resonate with me no matter where it comes from. I would not feel good about offending a large percentage of people, but like I said; I guess anyway I am willing to carry the weight. Thoughts?
I really appreciate any response
Namaste, in the most respectful sense
